About videoframeextract.com
videoframeextract.com is a set of free tools for getting still images out of videos and GIFs: a video frame extractor, a last-frame tool, a GIF frame splitter, a contact sheet maker, a thumbnail generator and a frame by frame player, plus guides on doing the same with the software you already have.
Who makes it
The site is made by teasoup, a small independent publisher of browser tools.
Why everything runs in your browser
Videos are large and often private. Uploading a 2 GB recording to a server just to get one frame is slow, and it leaves a copy of your video on someone else’s computer. Current browsers can decode video themselves, so these tools do all the work on your device. The details are on how the frame extraction works.
How we test
We check frame accuracy against ffmpeg, the reference command-line tool: our test videos print their own frame number on every frame, and we compare frame counts, frame numbers and the last frame of each test file with what ffmpeg reports. Test files include constant and variable frame rate MP4, MP4 with B-frames, rotated phone video and WebM.
No ads, no accounts
The tools are free, have no sign-up and show no ads. We use Google Analytics to count visits and which features are used; see the privacy policy.
